Half-Day Workshop on Sustainable Coffee Waste Valorization Held at Jimma Institute of Technology

We successfully held a halfday workshop on 3rd if February, 2024 at Jimma Institute of (JiT) , Jimma University.

The workshop is organized by the School of Chemical Engineering at Jimma Institute of Technology (JiT), the Ethiopian Society of Chemical Engineering ESChE, and the Agroval Project.

Two scientific presentations on sustainable coffee processing waste valorization were presented at this event, with the first title “Sustainable Valorization of coffee processing waste through integration of food, bioproducts, and bio energy production” as part of the AgroVal project and the second title “Fabrication of alternative fuel from agricultural waste (Khat Waste & Coffee Husk), and sewage sludge for clinker production.”

The workshop aims to share knowledge with experts and stakeholders on sustainable valorisation and circular economy concepts for utilizing coffee processing waste, addressing environmental concerns, and improving waste management.

The workshop was opened by Eng. Alebachew Tena, Vice Scientific Director of JIT.
