The 25th Anniversary celebration of the Ethiopian Society of Chemical Engineers (ESChE) concluded with a memorable closing ceremony dedicated to honoring pioneers whose lifelong commitment has shaped the development of chemical engineering in Ethiopia.

As the Society reflects on a quarter century of growth, collaboration, and professional impact, three distinguished individuals were presented with Lifetime Contribution Awards in recognition of their exceptional service and leadership.

🎖️ Prof. Belay Woldeyes

Belay Woldeyes was recognized as a founding visionary and pioneer of chemical engineering in Ethiopia. He chaired the establishment of ESChE, led the development of the country’s first chemical engineering program, and played a central role in advancing the discipline across academia and professional practice.

🎖️ Prof. Desta Mebratu

Desta Mebratu was honored as a distinguished steward of the profession. Since the inception of ESChE, he has consistently contributed through leadership, mentorship, and dedicated service that strengthened the society and elevated chemical engineering in Ethiopia.

🎖️ Eng. Gizachew Shiferaw

Gizachew Shiferaw was recognized as a pillar of leadership and service and the first President of ESChE. His commitment laid the institutional foundations that helped the Society grow and serve the professional community.
